Kerala trip from Pune: a 5-day itinerary with prices

Getting there from Pune

• By flight: fly from Pune to Kochi. It is the quickest option and the trip starts the same day
• By train: trains from Pune to Ernakulam take roughly a day. A good choice for families who enjoy the journey

The tour starts and ends at Kochi airport or railway station, so you can choose either.

Best time to go

September to March is pleasant, with October to February the busiest season, so book early. June to August is the monsoon: everything is green, prices are softer and houseboats still run.

The 5-day plan

1. Day 1, Cochin to Munnar: drive about 130 km into the hills, stopping at waterfalls, a spice plantation and tea gardens
2. Day 2, Munnar: Eravikulam National Park, the Tea Museum, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Kundala Lake
3. Day 3, Munnar to Thekkady: Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and spice plantations, with an optional boat ride or Kathakali show
4. Day 4, Thekkady to Alleppey: board a deluxe houseboat at noon and cruise the backwaters, with all meals on board
5. Day 5, Alleppey to Cochin: breakfast on the houseboat and drop at Kochi for your journey home

Prices per person

With budget 3★ hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, and a private vehicle. Valid until November 2026, except peak dates.

Couples who want nicer hotels: for two travellers, a deluxe 3★/4★ mix is ₹19,500, 4★ is ₹21,740 and 5★ is ₹23,920 per person.
