Dubai visa for Indians: a simple checklist

Passport and boarding pass ready for travel

Indian passport holders need a visa for Dubai, and in most cases it is arranged before you fly. Keep these documents ready and the application is usually straightforward.

Documents you will usually need

  • Passport valid for at least six months from your travel date
  • Clear colour scan of the passport’s front and back pages
  • Recent passport-size photograph on a white background
  • Confirmed return flight tickets
  • Hotel booking, or the address where you will stay

Which visa to apply for

Tourist visas are commonly issued for 30 or 60 days, as single or multiple entry. Choose based on how long you will stay and whether you plan a side trip out of the UAE and back.

How long it takes

Processing usually takes a few working days. It can take longer around Diwali, Christmas and New Year, so apply at least two weeks before you travel.

Visa on arrival

Some Indian passport holders who also hold a valid US visa or green card, or a UK or EU residence permit, may qualify for a visa on arrival. The conditions change from time to time, so check with us before relying on it.

Common mistakes that cause delays

  • A name on the ticket that doesn’t exactly match the passport
  • A passport close to expiry
  • Blurred or cropped scans and photographs
